This Privacy Policy explains how CoFriend INC (“CoFriend,” “we,” “us,” “our”), the provider of the CoFriend application and related services (the “Service”), collects, uses, shares, and protects your information, and the choices you have.

By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
a) Information You Give Us Directly
- Account Information: email address, username, password (stored hashed by our authentication provider), and optional profile details such as display name, bio, gender, and birthday (used for age verification).
- Your Content: messages you exchange with human and AI friends, including text and images you upload; and the names, personalities, settings, and instructions you create for your AI friends.
- Payment Information: subscriptions are processed by the applicable app store (e.g., Apple). We receive confirmation of purchase and subscription status; we do not receive or store your full payment-card details.
- Communications with Us: records of your correspondence with our support team.
b) Information We Collect Automatically
- Usage Data: features used, interaction patterns, and activity times.
- AI-generated Data: content your AI friends generate (text and images), and the memory they build from chats they participate in — including what they remember about your preferences, activities, and the images you share — used to make conversations more personal. See Section 2 (How We Use).
- Device & Technical Data: device type, OS version, IP address, device identifiers, push‑notification tokens, and crash/diagnostic logs.
- Cookies, SDKs, and Analytics: we and our analytics and attribution providers use cookies, mobile SDKs, and similar technologies to operate the Service, measure performance, and understand how people discover and use the app — including, if you install or arrive through an advertisement or referral, information about how you found us.
- Approximate and Precise Location: we derive approximate location from your IP address (such as city, region, and country). You can also opt in on your device to share precise location for better weather and place‑search results.
c) Information We Get From Other Sources
- Third-Party Logins: if you sign up with a third‑party service such as Apple or Google, we receive basic profile information (such as email and name) to create your account.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- operate and provide the Service — deliver your messages, store your chats, and run AI features;
- generate and recall your AI friends’ memory and personalize your experience;
- process subscriptions and manage your account;
- keep the platform safe, including moderation and abuse/fraud prevention;
- analyze, debug, and improve the Service, including using derived data (such as AI memory) and de‑identified or aggregated data;
- send you service‑ and security‑related communications.
Where GDPR applies, our legal bases are: performance of our contract with you; our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Service; your consent (where we ask for it); and compliance with legal obligations.
We may use de‑identified and aggregated data, and content generated or inferred by your AI friends (such as their responses and the memory they build), to operate, improve, and develop the Service and our models. We do not use the content of your private conversations to train our AI models.
3. How We Share Your Information
We share your data with a number of service providers to run our service. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.
We remain responsible for the personal data we provide to our third-party service providers. We confirm that all third-party service providers listed below protect user data to a standard that is the same as or equivalent to this Privacy Policy, their own privacy policies (linked below), and applicable law. However, we cannot guarantee the security of information once it has been transmitted to a third party, and we are not responsible for accidental loss or unauthorized access caused by a third party’s fault.

We also share information in these limited circumstances:
- Other Users and AI Participants — content you send in a chat is visible to the people and AI friends in that chat, and an AI’s memory may carry into other chats it joins.
- For Legal and Safety Reasons — where required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect users and the public; we may review content for these purposes.
- In a Business Transfer — as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep information while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or de‑identify the personal data associated with it, except where we need to retain it — for example, content that other users still have access to, limited records we keep for legal, security, or safety purposes (including responding to lawful requests), and copies that remain in backup or archival storage for a limited period before they are removed.

5. Your Rights and Choices
You can review and edit your profile in the app, delete your account in Settings, and contact us at privacy@cofriend.ai to access, correct, or delete your personal data (we may verify your identity first).
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (EEA/UK) or CCPA/CPRA (California) — for example, to access, delete, correct, or object to how your data is used, and to complain to your local data‑protection authority. We do not sell your personal information.
6. Children’s Privacy
CoFriend is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information; if we learn we have, we will delete it.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email and update the “Last updated” date above.
